Boko Haram strike Banga and Larh in Dugwaba district of Hong local government area of Adamawa State, killing six people and injuring many others, including a Police Inspector.

According to  Simon Dabna, the Commandant of the local security outfit ‘Vigilante Group’ whose members are assisting security agencies in the maintenance of security in the volatile area in an interview via Telephone that the terrorists struck the communities at night and shot at the residents randomly.

He explained that some of the casualties were as a result of an explosive device detonated on the Garaha Police Patrol vehicle planted by the terrorists, but fortunately, all occupants, including the driver, had evacuated the vehicle before it triggered the explosive.

Dabna added that the attackers also looted foodstuffs, wares in shops, and set houses ablaze, leaving a trail of woes in the communities.

“Residents of affected communities have fled to Garaha, Hong, Munga for safety. “We are handicapped our official vehicles were grounded due to minor maintenance; we don’t have enough arms to confront the terrorists. We appealed to the authorities to assist us with working materials and a patrol vehicle to fight the terrorists.

“People should also cooperate with security agencies to ensure the issue of insurgents has come to an end in area,” he said.

The destruction of the Garaha police van further hampers local security efforts, leaving communities vulnerable to future attacks”.

As at the time of filling in this report, authorities have yet to comment, and all efforts to put a call through proved abortive, with no call returned.
