54 Staff Of Local Government Councils In Plateau Receives Procurement Workshop Training On Reform

About 54 staff of the 17 Local Government Councils in Plateau state has been receiving training on financial management procurement and documentation from the Plateau state Local Government service commission in collaboration with ALSARD consult.

Addressing the staff, Chairman LGSC Mr Robert Staple said the Plateau state government under the leadership of Barr. Simon Lalong is embarking on training and retraining of staff workforce to address problem of store keeping which is gradually guzzling out of fashion so there is need to set up standard to regulate the practice.

According to him, the commission wants to create awareness and educate, enlighten the staff on procurement act.

He advocated for devolution of the public procurement act across the local government system for revitalizing the store keeping act that is very important by asking the participants to be proactive toward meeting modern change.

Represented by Commissioner 1 LGSC Mr Pam Dung Dazuk, at the Joshua Dariye multi-purpose hall Plateau state Polytechnic Barking Ladi, Jos.

Chairman of the occasion, Sabastine Alkali said this training is very key to the progress of Local Government administration by expressing hope the workshops will stimulate change in the system.

He blasted the government for employing and deploying staff that did not have proper training to work immediately as staff is very detrimental to the civil service rule.

Dazuks charged the LGs to brace up and effectively replicate effectively the training to their various places of primary assignment as engine room of the reform agenda of government.

The chairman explained that at the end of workshop they will learn technical approach to function effectively in their local government which funds have been spent.

Meanwhile, the chief consultant Baso Alfred revealed that the progress is impossible without change and those who can’t change their minds will not change anything.

He called on them to see that the first step toward change is awareness and the second step is acceptance.
