Wise men say the evil men do leaves with them, but the scenario in Nasarawa State People’s Democratic Party chapter was a different ball game as a staunch member of the party, Dr.Joseph Haruna Kigbu dumped the party after working tirelessly to ensure the landslide victory of Hon. Francis Orogu in the controversial ward, Local Government and State Congresses.

It was learned that Haruna Kigbu AKA Daktan Talakawa used part of his resource to ensure that Orogu returned to power by hook or crook, his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress has to send bad signaled to the party whose fortress is shacking.

Analysts are of the view that the cacophony in the opposition party, The PDP is a clear trajectory that Governor Abdullahi Sule would have a soft landing come 2023 governorship election, the reason being that no strong political party that would challenge the APC whether Engineer Abdullahi Sule performed in his first tenure or not.

The recent defection of Hon. Joseph Haruna Kigbu from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress is a clear indication of a house divided, meaning things fall apart, the centre cannot hold as Kigbu was on the right-hand side of the embattled chairman of the party who is serving his second tenure.

A reliable source close to Kigbu unfolded that his defection was a game plan to retire Hon. Abubakar Sarki Dahiru, the current Member representing Lafia/Obi Federal constituency from politics in the zone whom people described as a dormant representative who has nothing to offer his constituents.

He however said the calculation is to support Kigbu been an Eggon man from Lafia Local Government so as to gain their sympathy been the majority tribe in Lafia, the state capital followed by Alago speaking people in Assakio.

Feelers revealed that the defection of Kigbu would be a plus to the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who held from Kwandare Community of Lafia, a Gwandara man by tribe, he said the intention of party stalwart in Lafia/ Obi is to balance the political equation instead of allowing senate seat and House of Representatives to come from  Lafia.

Another yardstick was to carry everybody along religiously, adding that both Senator Al-Makura and AKA Mai Yamma are all Muslims, the followers of the two religions supposed to be represented equally so as to douse the bubble that is about busting in no distance time.

Unconfirmed sources are of the view that bringing Kigbu to APC was an underground work to swap the current Deputy Governor, Dr.Emmanuel Akabe who held from Doma Local Government while considering the number of votes cast in Doma  in the 2019 Governorship election.

He said gladiators are working round the clock ahead of who gets what comes 2023, Hon.Kigbu was amongst the founding fathers of the Congress for Progressives Change which metamorphosed to the All Progressives Congress.

In a bid to remain in power, Hon. Haruna Kigbu jumped ship to the People’s Democratic Party and was forcefully chase out of the House of Representatives by a former Commissioner of Health, Abubakar Sarki Dahiru through an Election Petition Tribunal.

Again, the contest between Hon. Haruna Kigbu and Abubakar Sarki Dahiru for two consecutive times were challenged at the EPT.

An insider said the ruling party in the State has concluded its political calculus to endorse the former Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Elisha Agwadu to go for Member House of Representatives representing Lafia/Obi, A seat contested by a Koro man a former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Sunny Agassi.

The former Deputy Speaker may have a soft landing as Agassi was appointed as the Director-General of Nasarawa Geographic Information System (NAGIS) blocking his chance to vie for elective position, Governor Sule to compensate Koro people after suspending late Dr. Rebbeca Isaac Umaru as provost College of Education, Akwanga appointed Dr. Ishaya Awotu as the Chairman Governing Council of the institution.

Only time shall tell.
