2019: Buhari Campaign Organization Under Threat As Kyari Mobilizes Against Amaechi, Enlists Tinubu, Others

The animosity between Chief of staff to President Mohammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari and Transport Minister, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is threatening to tear down the Presidential campaign of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Pointblanknews.com has been informed.

Power, influence and control of the campaign structures ahead of the 2019 Presidential election has become a major cause the supremacy struggle between the President’s Chief of Staff and the former Rivers Governor.

Recall that In spite of his abysmal performance, President Buhari had announced his bid for a second term in 2019, naming Amaechi as the Director General of The Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign organization.

The unilateral decision did not go down well with the Cabals in Aso Rock presidential villa which headed by Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

Kyari, it is no longer a secret, is leading a cabal in the villa who is bent on ensuring that Amaechi’s influence in the Campaign Organization is cut to sizes while he infiltrates and make decisions.

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the Chief of Staff wants sensitive and powerful positions in the Buhari Campaign Organization reserved exclusively for people of the Northern extraction particularly, the North West geopolitical region.

Sources told pointblanknews.com that Kyari is particularly angered that Buhari has chosen “a flippant character” who is already one of the characters in the administration who have dealt a heavy blow on the image and social standing of the President.

Pointblanknews.com recalls that Amaechi has been accused of wasting the resources of his home Rivers state when he presided over as its Governor from 2007 to 2015 in addition to making some appointments in his ministry which are meant to be done by the President.

One the cases normally cite is that of Dakuku Peter who was announced as the head of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Our basic checks indicate that Kyari believes the choice of Amaechi is an abomination as well a dirty slap across the face of the North where Buhari drew his cult supporters till he started mismanaging the country and hunger and drug abuse pervaded the area.

With Ameachi in the saddle, Kyari is of the opinion that Buhari will become a bad candidate to sell to several areas especially in the North Central, South-South and South-East who have suffered unimaginable deprivations and a sense of abandonment by the regime. This, according to Aso Rock Sources, will wreck the President’s chances at the 2019 poll.

He has therefore enlisted the chieftain of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose major role so far as the second term is concerned is to ensure that adequate bad blood is generated between Buhari and Amaechi.

Amaechi, in the first place is viewed by the cabal as a newcomer into the APC and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) umbrella who is yet to satisfactorily purge himself of the regional aggression against Buhari.

“Kyari has used security agents in the villa to cut down on Amaechi’s access to Buhari in what is considered a strategy to whittle down his influence”, one of our sources emphasized.

Pointblanknews.com reliably gathered that Buhari who sees Amaechi as a major contributor to his 2015 campaign is trying to pay back the former Rivers governor by having him head his reelection campaign from where he can recoup.

But the Cabals in the Presidency feel Buhari has already done enough for the former Rivers Governor by appointing him into a grade A Ministry where he has unflinching control of juicy agencies such as the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.

“As it stands, Kyari wants to control the Buhari’s 2019 Campaign Organization and plant men who he believe are better equipped to manage the president’s re-election bid.

“Several efforts made by Buhari to reconcile both men have yielded little or no result. It remains to be seen how the issues would be laid to rest ahead of the APC convention and the 2019 Presidential elections. But I can predict that, in the end, Kyari will triumph over and whittle down Amaechi’s marginal influence”, pointblanknews.com was told.

It appears the gang up against Amaechi has started yielding fruits. In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Hon. Ernest Irieka, former member of the House of Representatives and Zonal Executive Council member of APC in the South-South has warned the former Governor to respect elders and never try to play God in the scheme of political affairs.

“Let Amaechi not arrogate to himself the leadership of the party in the South-South because he does not have it. What have we achieved in Rivers with all the money there? Nothing. So he needs to talk to people not to go and interfere in other states. Look at the crisis in Rivers APC, we think he should sit down and sort it out by carrying others along; that is the only way we can win elections there”, he vehemently insisted.

He concluded by sounding a mote of warning: “So Amaechi is not the determining factor in the South-South, he only took a gambit and it worked out for him. So he should allow other people to take the same gambit and not be a dictator. And, above all, he should sit with other leaders of the party to strategize”.
