2019: ALGON Declares Support For Gov Ishaku’s Re-Election Bid

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) on Thursday threw its weight behind the re-election bid of Gov Darius Ishaku of the state come 2019 governorship election.

The State ALGON Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Agya, who was flanked by 15 other LG chairmen, disclosed this at a press conference in Jalingo.

Agya explained that they decided to declare their total support to lshaku for a second term to enable him complete the good works he was doing in the state.

The chairman said the performance of the governor in areas of agriculture; security and access road networks in the past three years have endeared him to the vast majority of the people of the state.

“As chairmen of various councils in the state, we have received endorsement of the governor from various groups at the grassroots level and I am proud to announce that his support base is awesome.

“We are only re-echoing the stance of the people as the closest elected representatives.

“The people in the state, especially at the grassroots are pleased with the governor’s peace initiatives and his developmental strides so far and have decided to back him for a second term.

“We therefore call on all well-meaning people of the state to support the governor’s re-election bid to enable him consolidate on the gains so far achieved in the state for the good of all,” he said.

Agya, who frowned at the threat to security of lives and property in the state in the past few months due farmers/ herders clashes, said the governor would consolidate on his good work if reelected.

He however, commended the governor for his matured handling of the security situation in the state and for his commitment and unbiased approach in nipping in the bud several crisis in the state.

They pledged to continue to mobilise their people to ensure that all eligible voters were captured in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise.

In his response, the Special Adviser to Ishaku on Political Matters, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, who represented the governor, thanked the chairmen for the endorsement.

He pledged to continue to execute programmes and projects that would benefit the people of the state.
