Leaders of the two major political parties PDP and APC in Bogoro local government of Bauchi state, their candidates to next week general elections and supporters have signed peace pact in the bid to ensure smooth, non-violence, rancor free and peaceful elections next week.
The Peace Pact was signed on behalf of contestants to the elections and parties’ supporters by the local government chairmen of the two political parties; Mr. Andrawus Adamu (PDP) and Haruna Rikaya (APC) while the chairperson of Bogoro council, Hassana Arkila also signed the document as witness.
According to the peace pact, chairmen of the two parties and their secretaries representing the entire members of the two political parties and their supporters appended the peace document as seal to the Accord that peace should reign in the local government area before, during and after the elections.
During the peace pact signing ceremony, chairmen of the two leading poliyical parties hugged and embraced each other symbolizing unity, as adherents of the party and community members were urged to imbibe unity and preach peace to others not at the occasion.
The significance of the peace pact, it was gathered, apart from creating a peaceful atmosphere and united community or society, is also to encourage party faithful imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship irrespective of who win or loses elections.
