2015 National Quranic Competition: Gombe Emerges Winner With 95.5 Points

Ibrahim-Hassan-DankwamboGombe state chapter of the Jamaatul Nasril Islam JNI has emerged winner of the just concluded 2015 National Quranic Recitation Competition in Auchi, Edo state.

Presenting the overall award winner, Yusuf Mohammed Bappa and others at Government House Gombe, the state coordinator for Quranic Recitation Malam Kawuwa Mohammed stated that, Bappa had scored 95.5 points beating other competitors from the 36 states of the federation, which qualify him to represent the country at the upcoming World Quranic Recitation Competition in Mecca, Saudi Arabia by November this year.

According to him, the competition which usually start from the local government level up to the national level has been categorised into 6 segments which include reading, reciting, and interpreting the theological aspect of the Quran.

He however, thanked the state government for its support towards the programme, saying the tremendous support the programme had been receiving lead to the victory and success of the exercise.

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state who presented gift items to the award winners, also expressed readiness of the state government in ensuring steady growth of educational sector in the state. According to him, as part of his administration effort in transforming the sector, government has also been paying attention to ensure quality religious education particularly among the youth, which he said would help a great deal in ensuring healthy society.

He however, called on entire people of the state to remain law abiding, and ensure clear drainages and water ways in their respectful environments so as to avoid flooding.
