The Jha’ar chiefdom is located in the North West of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state with a population of over 30,000 thousand people having boundaries with Bauchi,Gombe states and at the south South is the Ngas people from Kanke LGA .
The predominant occupation of the people of Jha’ar speaking native include farming and hunting ,the community elders are still in romance with the old traditional herbal medicine for treatment and worshiping of ancestral believe with the recent coming of Islam and Christianity turning things apart .
The youths are described as the most active members of the community no longer copped with idol worship.
It took a motorbike over 2 hours 30 minutes to ride on the rocking routes which are almost 100 km to the town.
History had revealed that the Gyangyang district was founded in the early 1820 by the Borno umpire who travelled down through the rocks of Ngas natives when the headquarters of Kanam was still in Purmonpusu ,a town 20 km away from Jarmai town .
Gyangyang is proud of great achievements of their sons and daughters who have excel in the field of endeavour especially , the former commissioner during Chief Joshua Dariye ,Dr Yakubu Gambo ,Alh. Shuaibu Haruna Shimlah ,
However, the British missionaries in 1927 established primary school in Tutung the southern part to help build the enterpreneurship education of the Boggwom, Jha’ar and Taroh .
This community have several cultural affluent which is typical of Jha’ar is very romantic person with pretty maiden to add colour to the Gyangyang Day celebration which started in 1989 Also snake tempted display their belief .
Our report gathered that each leader of the community were task to prepared delicacy to entertain visitors during the occasion.

The Chairman GDA Ayuba Nahuta appealed to members of the Jha’ar chiefdom to shun political violence and embrace the unity that their people are known for.
The Jha’ar chiefdom should rally support to the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Jonah Jang transformation agenda, adding, there can’t never be any meaningful development without peace.
He sued for cordial working relationship with the neighboring local government for peace to reign.
Nahuta lamented the high rate of insecurity in the country as he called on the leaders at all level to be sincere.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr Yakubu Gambo urged the association of Gyangyang development to vote PDP in the forthcoming election.
He promised that government will revamped the falling standard of education in the country through the UBEC.
Gambo prayed for peaceful conduct of 2015 election and also seek for the promotion of cultural value among the youths.
