There are strong indications that Bauchi state intending Muslim pilgrims may not be airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia kingdom as schedule following the alleged non-payment of one billion naira to travel agent fees, this is as this medium learnt that the pilgrims are now stranded at the Bauchi International Airport.

A Source told this medium that the intending pilgrims were supposed to have been airlifted since 11.am on Sunday, but as at the time of filing this report, nothing positive has changed.

The source added that, former governor Yuguda has been settling the amount due to agents as fees which is the normal practice, but the current administration of Abubakar is alleged to have ignored the arrangement attributing it to lack of funds.

It was learnt that the pilgrims were later charged N26, 000.00 each out of their personal pockets to settle the amount, yet the amount is far from what is being required.

Other source said, the airport officials needed time to fix some facilities before the operational exercise as a tactics to delay time but this is to the  to the detriment of the pilgrims.

As at today, from the website of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, it showed that the name of Bauchi State is conspicuously missing among the State that has been airlifted under flight updates for the airlift of pilgrims to the Holy Land.
