The Bauchi Coalition Against Financial Crimes and Injustice has stated that its General Secretary, Yakubu Jibrin has been arrested this morning by the police in Kano.
In a statement signed by the President of the anti-corruption group Alhaji Dogon Yaro Bibi, the group said that the arrest of its General Secretary followed the open letter it published on Daily Trust newspaper on 2nd and 21st December 2015.
According to the group, “Our Secretary General was arrested this morning in Kano, following an open letter we wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari and to Bauchi State House of Assembly Lawmakers.”
“We never abused him; we never insulted him or even threatened him in the two letters we wrote, we only asked the State House Assembly and the President to investigate on what we wrote in the open letter.”
“We are calling on the general public, the security agencies, the National Human Rights Commission and the Presidency to take note,” the Group stated.
The Group said that in its quest to stand for the truth in Bauchi, it can never be intimidated to leave the cause it has decided to carry on in its bid to salvage Bauchi State in its own little ways.
