NUJ vows to weed out quacks in its profession

The National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists Abdulweed Odusile has vowed to weed out quacks parading themselves as Journalists.

Represented by National Chairman Zone D, Chief Williamson Bako the NUJ Chairman in address with theme “the role of a Journalist in driving change agenda of the present administration”

The NUJ gave the address during the launching of Almanac of the correspondents chapel at Eliel center Gold, Jos.

Odusile advised the general public to be wary of dangerous people parading themselves as Journalists but stressed that the public should buy the calendar and used it always to check the activities of those who committed crime.

According to him, the calendar is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari ideology plan to flush out quackery.

He lauded Governor Simon Lalong for contributing towards the national conference in Abuja.

The National secretary Mallam Shaibu Liman said, ‘we must have to be professional by guiding the tenets of the discipline and be a voice to the voiceless in the society.

He called on other states to emulate Plateau state chapter of the correspondents by identifying the genuine members so that the country will weed off quack and allowing genuine members to practice if Nigeria want to have a genuine democracy.

He said the NUJ have held the peace and progress of Nigeria since the return of democracy by keeping it together.

Governor Simon Lalong urged Journalists to maintain and see themselves as watchdog of the society and promote peace and love.

He challenged media practitioners to rise above mediocrity and ensure that they unite the country and the states through their contribution in nation building.

Lalong promised to offset all the outstanding advert money of media houses during the immediate past administration of Governor Jonah David Jang .
