‎Bauchi State Assembly Member,Hon. Garba Musa Kore Caught In An Alleged Falsification Scandal

A member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Sakwa constituency, Garba Musa Kore has been taken to court for allegedly falsifying information he gave to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The suit filed by the Plaintiff, Suleman Ibrahim urge the court to nullify the election of Garba Musa Kore and compel the INEC to conduct a fresh election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) and the All Progressives Congress ( APC) ‎were joined as second and third defendants in the suit.

According to the plaintiff, the lawmaker has falsified the information he gave to INEC while filling his Form CF 001 to contest for the position of state lawmaker representing Sakwa constituency.

Speaking to journalists after the sitting, lawyer to the plaintiff, Barrister Usman Bappah Darazo said that the falsification of information given to INEC by the lawmaker contravenes Section 31 of the electoral act‎.

According to him, the lawmaker is using three different names which he did not disclosed while submitting his CF 001 to INEC.

He further alleged that the lawmaker at the time of his election has not resigned from the employ of Zaki Local Government health department and did not either state the circumstances of his withdrawal from the Bauchi School of ‎Nursing and his subsequent sack from his job at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Bauchi.

On his part, Counsel to the first defendant, Barrister Sale Mohammed Bakaro said that they have filed a preliminary objection to challenge what the plaintiff alleges.

He added that the suit filed by the plaintiff is based on a pre-election matter which should have been filed with an Election Petition Tribunal which has since finished it’s work within its specified time frame.

When asked about the case, Lawyer to INEC, Barrister Mohammed Abubakar declined to comment.

Justice Mu’azu Abubakar of the Bauchi State High Court Eight adjourned the case to March 29th, 2017 for hearing on the Preliminary Objection filed by the first depe‎ndant on the case.
